“Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (PPIMC), the coordinator of the ACTIBIOSAFE project, organized an international workshop “Progress in antimicrobial materials” during the last technical meeting of the project on 30th of March, 2017 at the organizer’s address in Iasi, Romania. Over 40 persons participated at the workshop, the agenda comprising two sections: I. Oral presentations – chairs dr. Morten Sivertsvik (NOFIMA) and dr. Laurenţiu Moldovan (RODAX) and II. Poster session – chair dr. Mihai Brebu (PPIMC). First section included 12 scientific papers (5 from abroad and 3 co-authored papers), while poster session comprised 18 posters (6 from abroad, 3 coauthored and 2 from industry). New results on active packaging, physico-mechanical, antibacterial, antioxidant and degradation properties of biocomposites, as well as recent trends in food packaging have been discussed. The trays and films resulted from the project activities have been presented, together with results from other projects developed by the participants.
